“Tejano music legend and multi-genre artist Johnny Hernandez and his band, La Gente is more energetic and prepared than ever to produce an extraordinary show. Johnny has a new Mega hit single recording "Gracias" which is being played in many cities around the U.S. He also has recently released a new English album, This Time (Again) that showcases his rendition of the Blues, Oldies and Jazz classics. His show can include these dynamic tunes from the fifties to bring back the "good old days" and produce an exciting rhythm driven dance atmosphere and/or perform a variety of Spanish and English tunes.
Johnny is credited with many super hits in his long and lustrous recording career spanning 49 years beginning with his brother’s band Little Joe and The Latinaires who later became Little Joe, Johnny y La Familia. It was Johnny's recording of "Por Un Amor" (which has sold over 1.5 million records throughout the years) that first launched Little Joe & The Latinaires to star status, and then his lead vocals on "Las Nubes", the Chicano anthem that helped set Little Joe, Johnny y La Familia to Super Star status. On October 19, 2009 Johnny was featured on the PBS and CNN special, Latin Music USA. Because of the success of Johnny's new single "Gracias", Johnny decided to form the band: "Johnny Hernandez y La Gente”, based in Austin, Texas which incorporates the superb talents of musicians that have worked with Johnny in the past.
Throughout Johnny’s career, he has shared the stage with many national acts such as: Jerry Lopez and Santa Fe and Fat City Horns, Herb Reed & The Platters, Barbara Lynn, Archie Bell, Roy Head, Susan Anton, Rich Little, Santana, Tower of Power, Tierra (Rudy & Steve Salas) , Malo, War, Paul Rodriguez, James Brown, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Brenton Wood, Rosie & The Originals, Al Wilson, Los Tigres Del Norte, Ramon Ayala, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Cal Tjader, Luis Gasca, Mongo Santa Maria, Willie Nelson, BJ Thomas and the list goes on…
